Senior/Principal Scientist, Protein Science - Permanent - Indianapolis, IN
À±½·ÊÓƵ is seeking a Senior/Principal Protein Scientist to join a dynamic discovery group.
Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be required to focus on the design, production, and characterization of chemical leads and drug candidates. This role is pivotal in advancing a drug discovery portfolio, particularly in the area of metabolic diseases.
Skills & Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
- Expertise in peptide and protein work, purification, and analytical techniques.
- Proficiency with electronic inventory systems and lab notebooks.
- Strong command of Microsoft Suite.
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in peptide and protein modification, biophysical techniques, and drug formulation is preferred.
- Knowledge of drug discovery and development processes is advantageous.
The Senior/Principal Scientist's responsibilities will be:
- Design and recommend peptides and proteins with therapeutic potential.
- Conduct or coordinate protein expression and purification.
- Perform chemical conjugation or enzymatic ligation of peptides and proteins.
- Purify drug candidates using techniques like RP-HPLC, IEC, or SEC.
- Formulate drug candidates for downstream screening and analysis.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using LCMS, SEC, and SDS-page.
- Conduct biophysical characterization to ensure compounds meet purity and identity standards.
- Analyze data and present findings to multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain detailed laboratory records and documentation.
- Collaborate with chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists to advance drug candidates.
- Communicate progress and challenges to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety protocols.
- Participate in laboratory inspections and audits.
Compensation:
- $115,000 to $120,000 per annum.
