Director, Software Development - Permanent - New Castle, DE

À±½·ÊÓƵ is seeking a Director of Software Development to lead strategic planning, architectural design, and growth initiatives for a software development team. This role focuses on developing innovative solutions that meet user needs and drive product success.

Skills & Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent technical experience.
• Strong understanding of complex backend architectures and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in development stacks (e.g., C#, .NET, MVC, Web API).
• Experience with relational databases and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with RESTful services and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of Event-Driven Architecture and cloud services (e.g., AWS).
• Experience in Agile DevOps/CICD models.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Software Development Director will:

• Collaborate with directors, engineering managers, lead engineers, product managers, and designers to understand user needs and develop effective technical solutions.
• Oversee the software engineering function to develop, release, and maintain on-premises and cloud applications.
• Create a research roadmap for software, including user research, UI/UX design, and AI/data science-enabled solutions.
• Translate portfolio roadmaps into capabilities and resource plans, identifying and addressing gaps.
• Design and architect global-reaching software, managing operational and capital budgets.
• Develop strategies for outsourcing/insourcing and build new web/cloud software development teams.
• Track progress towards portfolio KPIs and ensure accurate delivery of objectives.
• Ensure adherence to software development processes and engineering practices.
• Identify opportunities for improving execution efficiency.
• Mentor staff to develop delivery-oriented skills.
• Manage hiring, onboarding, and evaluation of lower-level management.
